Government Security employs 11,000 people who, like the rest of the UK, found themselves suddenly working from home during the 2020 pandemic. Ensuring that all employees had the right guidance and protocols to carry out their security sensitive work, was a top priority. We stepped in to create a campaign which delivered key security behaviour messages, in a visually vibrant and informative way.
A Different World
We were delighted when our client, the Cabinet Office said that they wanted us to create something different and creative, and we were even more impressed when they selected literally the most ‘out there’ concept. Aliens!
The alien world we created for the ‘Different World’ campaign acknowledged that the day to day landscape was no longer familiar to us and as we were all now working from home, new rules applied.
We created animated videos and campaign collateral featuring 4 alien characters, each aligned with and named after a behaviour that we needed to encourage – Look, Think, Say and Secure.
The aim – to deliver this very important guidance to a diverse range of people with different living conditions, in an amiable and agreeable way, was achieved through the quirky creative which avoided any cultural and identity specifics. Ironically, using aliens helped to avoid alienation of the audience.

Industry Personnel Security Assurance (IPSA) is an assurance framework, developed by the Ministry of Defense, for personnel security in industry, helping in the guidance, management and aftercare of vetted staff working on behalf of the government.
The Government Security function was launching a series of five ‘Centres of Excellence’, each focusing on particular areas of security. They approached us to develop a common identity across each of them, that would also support the Government Security branding guidelines.
